Dr. Susan Honored by Family and Friends in Cedar Ceremony at Picotte Memorial Hospital

On August 2nd, a group of descendants of Dr. Susan LaFlesche Picotte opened a reunion with a Cedar Ceremony at the Picotte Memorial Hospital. The ceremony was followed by a meal and presentations from Joe Starita (author of the Dr. Susan biography “A Warrior of the People”) and some of her living descendants, including Dr. Russell Blackbird. The weekend honored Dr. Susan and her inspirational life, while also raised awareness for the hospital restoration project.
