NCIA is excited and honored to receive a $99,749 one-year planning grant from the United States Department of Agriculture for the initial steps in Dr. Susan La Flesche Picotte Hospital restoration project.

Phase II's work includes the complete restoration of the building's exterior. Funded by a USDA grant, this $600,000 project began in August, 2020 and is expected to be completed in 6 months.
As part of the film series Unladylike 2020, several youth organizations were invited to preview four of the films (Dr. Susan La Flesche Picotte, Grace Abbott, Anna May Wong, Mary Church Terrell) and come up with compelling questions for a private Zoom Q & A session with the producer/director Charlotte Mangin. In addition, we asked the youth to “take over” the exterior of the Nebraska History Museum (P Street and Centennial Mall, Lincoln). Students were invited to create something from the inspiration they found in the films. These groups included Lincoln Public School’s Native American youth, Amber New Holy and Jada DuBray.
Dr. Susan is featured in UNL's comic section and helps defeat Coronavirus!
