Restoration Project Moves Ahead - Siding Removed

The restoration of the Dr. Susan LaFlesche Picotte center takes another step toward securing the building envelope.  Licensed haz-mat contractor, Bromann Inc. from Lincoln removed Transite siding from the building.  Fortunately, the siding that remains is in fairly good condition due in part to the fact that it was covered for many years with the Transite siding, which contains asbestos.  Now that the original 1913 material has been exposed, architects can proceed with developing plans to restore the building exterior.  It is anticipated the exterior restoration will be complete by late 2020, with a $589,000 USDA grant.
